In water treatment and depuration operations, different processes are carried out in order to obtain a product that complies with the stringent health and legal legislation of each country.

During the different treatments to which water is subject, the mechanical seals may come into contact with sediments, organic matter, dissolved substances such as calcium and magnesium (hard water), sulphate and carbon dioxide (acid water), manganese (sewage water), nitrates (water contaminated by fertilisers), etc.

Wastewater Treatment Process Phases

2. Pretreatment

This process is extremely important: it eliminates most of the waste from the water to be treated, to prevent damages and blockages in pumps, valves and other elements.

Removal of sand and grease: the sand forms a sediment at the bottom and the grease rises to the surface due to flotation.

   

3. Primary Treatment

4. Biological Treatment

The sedimentable solids and the floating matter not eliminated in previous phases are separated again. This process does not exist in all water treatment plants.

It reduces the organic matter content through micro-organisms and bacteria that consume it. The survival of these micro-organisms is assured by providing them with oxygen by pumping in air.

   

5. Secondary Clarifier

6. Tertiary Treatment

The treated water from the sludge generated during the biological process passes to the clarifiers.

It eliminates specific contaminants, toxins or non-biodegradable compounds and leaves the water in reusable conditions.
