In the <b>automotive sector<\/b>, for example, decanting pumps of acids, such as hydrochloric and sulphuric, can be found as mordants to strip metal plates destined to bodywork. In the <b>paper industry<\/b>a multitude of alkaline, such as sodium hydroxide, and acid substances, like chlorine dioxide and hydrogen peroxide, are used to obtain and whiten cellulose. In the <b>food industry\u00a0<\/b>it is frequent to use substances such as phosphoric acid to manufacture a variety of products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13323 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lidering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/blog2-alemany-500x226.png\" alt=\" width=\"500\" height=\"226\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Standard mechanical seals in contact with such aggressive chemical products are chemically attacked. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/webcatalog.lidering.com\/FilesWebCatalog\/PDF_NIVELES\/Nivel20073_EN.pdf\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">model LTB16<\/span><\/a> <span lang=\"EN-GB\">is the solution, both for its design and for the quality of its construction materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13319 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lidering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/blog3-alemany-500x212.png\" alt=\" width=\"500\" height=\"212\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\">The stationary friction surface of this <a href=\"https:\/\/webcatalog.lidering.com\/FilesWebCatalog\/PDF_NIVELES\/Nivel20108_EN.pdf\">Type T<\/a> model is made of Alumina (aluminium oxide) with a purity of 99%. This material is one of the most chemically resistant materials that exist in nature, it is considered inert for a range of \u2018normal\u2019 temperatures and it is practically impossible for it to react in contact with another substance. It also shows high resistance to wear, since it is one of the toughest substances there is.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13315 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lidering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/blog4-alemany-500x149.png\" alt=\" width=\"500\" height=\"149\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">On the other side, the friction surface on the rotating part is made of PTFE, one of the synthetic materials with highest chemical resistance. Besides, it shows <b>self-lubricating properties that reduce wear<\/b>in conditions of scarce lubrication <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13311 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lidering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/blog5-al\u00f1emany-500x190.png\" alt=\" width=\"500\" height=\"190\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">As secondary joints, it uses two flat joints of PTFE for the stationary part and a PTFE bellows for the rotating part. With these designs and materials <b>we manage to ensure that the sealing points will not be chemically weak<\/b>. Moreover, the fact that the rotating friction surface is made from the same piece of PTFE as the bellows, reduces the possibility of there being any leak. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13397 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lidering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Blog-N\u00ba-14-Verificar-el-alineado-del-eje-de-una-bomba-2018-11-28-INTERIOR-05-Ingl\u00e9s-500x227.png\" alt=\" width=\"500\" height=\"227\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The <b>internal design is another differentiating aspect of the LTB16<\/b>. The fact that the PTFE bellows is balanced and that the stationary part has the shape of a T allow the seal to be installed externally, <b>avoiding that the fluid comes in contact with the internal parts of the seal<\/b>(springs, exterior casing or flange).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">This characteristic, along with the self-lubricating capacity of the PTFE surface, enables the LTB16 seal to be used in <b>vertical agitators, in which rotation velocity is not very high<\/b>.<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13303 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lidering.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/blog7-alemany-500x226.png\" alt=\" width=\"500\" height=\"226\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\" align=\"center\"><u><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The fact that the LBT16 is balanced also permits it to be used in vacuum conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal1\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">For all of these reasons, the <b>LTB16 is an ideal seal for a variety of chemically very aggressive applications.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When a process implies working with chemically very aggressive fluids, our systems\u2019 components must be prepared for it, including mechanical seals, thus avoiding their becoming of the weak link in the installation.
